1. €50,000 for "Beyond Borders: Love and Literature"
The author, Simoné Goldschmidt-Lechter, is keen on bringing writers of all genres together. Events in independent bookshops and other venues should set an example of solidarity against the rise of the far right.
2. €59,500 for "Reference library on art in public spaces in Hamburg and beyond" -
This project, created by artist Thiseas Efstathopoulos and the para-education collective, aims to develop a digital mediation tool that presents the history of public art in urban spaces in an accessible and inclusive manner.
3. €66,000 for "Popaganda"
The anti-fascist pop opera, Popaganda by Clara Pazzini, features a mix of concert, political event and dance performance and will tour venues in Hamburg.
4. €88,000 "Night Shifts (AT)"
Three "night watchwomen" guide the audience through an evening of performance art involving light and shadow. This is the concept behind Nights Shifts by Lisa Alice Klosterkötter and KlosterkötterGrafGBR. Various places in Hamburg such as St. Pauli Church, Volkspark Altona and a container in the port will come to life with performances, readings and concerts.
5. €96,500 for "Climate currents - cities, countries, rivers!"
Caio Jacques Piaszek's project brings the climate to life for children through art and research projects. Various events raise participants' artistic awareness of the climate crisis and associated changes, and aims to build a self-empowered children's network.
6. €140,000 "(Not A) Common Ground:"
Liz Rech has received the highest grant for a performance about Hamburg's colonial past. The event focuses on the departure of the so-called 'Schutztruppen' from Baakenhafen. These troops later committed genocide against the Herero and Nama in present-day Namibia (then known as German South West Africa) under the command of the notorious Lothar von Trotha. The performance will take place in early summer 2026 as part of the "Counter Monuments" series.
