This year's festival is being held under the theme of "Where do we go from here?". The focus is on the climate crisis, autocrats, gender equality and freedom of expression. The agenda features a talk with Ole Rauch, joint founder of the new "Surplus" magazine, who will outline how publications can help rebuild economies. New international magazines will be presented in "4 in 60 minutes" speed dating sessions.
The environment, climate and nature is the "most pressing issue of our time", according to the new Hamburg-based "atom" environmental magazine which will also feature during the festival. Anyone can spend 15 minutes reading aloud from their own publication on the "Superbude Reading Stage". The 100 limited trade visitor tickets give access to workshops, roundtables and expert talks. Launched in 2014 as a conference, Indiecon has since morphed into an international meeting place for publishers, artists and media professionals. The festival is organised by the brueder creative co-operative for design, code and content in Hamburg and Berlin.
