Additional baggage machines have gone into operation to cope with demand. Terminal 2 had been temporarily closed due to the slump in traffic volumes since the start of corona. More parking spaces are available now that two levels (1 and 2) of the P1 car park and P4 have reopened. Reservations no longer have to be done online. Travel agencies at the airport are gradually reopening and holidaymakers can book their journeys in the Travel Market (Reisemarkt Terminal 1, Level 2) from 10 am to 6 pm daily.
Hamburg Airport has reopened Terminal 2 in early July owing to higher summer holiday demand and after several airlines expanded their services and the number of departures almost doubled over June.

Safe travel and hygiene measures
Hamburg Airport has put a package of measures in place to ensure that all check-in and boarding procedures comply with the present infection prevention recommendations. Cleaning teams and contact persons are on the move in the terminals. The protection measures include compulsory masks, Plexiglas panels, hand disinfectant dispensers, posters and distance markings. Contactless check-in can be done online with the respective airline and at the check-in and self-bag drop machines at the airport. Passengers are advised to click onto the airport's webpage to learn about important measures prior to departure. A practical checklist is also available.
