"At present, we are still at a comparatively low level with around a dozen destinations," said Katja Bromm, Press Officer at Hamburg Airport. However, "traffic is increasing slightly”, she noted. "New connections are being added almost daily," Bromm pointed out. Many airlines including Condor, Air France and Turkish Airlines are gradually resuming their summer schedules. While Eurowings is already flying to Palma and Vienna in addition to destinations in Germany, other airlines plan to follow suit with sunny destinations.
Hamburg Airport is preparing to resume flights to over 40 traditional holiday destinations from late June. A package of measures including regulations on social distancing as well as increased hygiene and cleaning measures has been put in place to ensure safe travel from northern Germany's largest airport. Several airlines plan to gradually expand their offers on routes in June and July now that restrictions imposed during the corona pandemic have been eased.

Masks mandatory in terminals
The airport’s preparations for the resumption of traffic are based on the Robert Koch Institute's recommendations for preventing infections. The measures include distance markings, Plexiglas panels at the counters as well as increased hygiene and cleaning measures. Masks are mandatory in all terminals. More passenger bridges are being put in place to avoid bus transfers. Hamburg Airport’s website has plenty of information and FAQs on flying in the era of corona.
