"Filmtage Köln" moving to Hamburg in 2026

"Filmtage Köln" and "Kino" cinema congress plan joint event in Hamburg

The “Filmtage Köln/Film Days Cologne” will premiere in Hamburg next year and merge with the HDF's KINO cinema congress to form a new event with a new name, a press release said Thursday (July 17, 2025). The congress will also move to Hamburg in 2026. This should solidify Hamburg's position as a film and media centre. Plans are being laid to hold a joint event in Cinemaxx Dammtor and the Congress Centre Hamburg (CCH). The "Filmtage Köln" attract over 1,000 visitors annually.

New chapter for movie industry

"The relocation of the Film Days and their merger with the Kino congress will open a new chapter for film and the cinema industry in Hamburg. This collaboration will strengthen the cinema's position as a cultural venue in the long term," said Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media. The merger provides an opportunity to develop the existing event into a forward-looking industry event. Hamburg offers ideal infrastructure and a strong film and media industry. So far, Großes Kino Merchandise & Event GmbH has organised the event in partnership with AllScreens Verband Filmverleih und Audiovisuelle Medien e. V. The move to Hamburg and the strategic collaboration will now bring together the worlds of cinema, film distribution, technology, agencies, service providers, marketing and vision, the organisers said.

Film days expand industry events in Hamburg

"The move to Hamburg shows the entire industry that cinemas and distributors will be organising a joint trade fair and conference in future," said Helge Albers, Managing Director of Moin Filmförderung. The merger of the Film Days and the "Kino" congress follows the expansion of the Filmfest Hamburg Industry Days, which gets underway from September 29 to October 2, 2025, and will include the European Work in Progress and the International Film Distribution Summit this year.
