"We aim to promote the technological, ecological and social transformation of aviation," said Melanie Leonhard, Senator for Economics and Innovation. The five projects include DrumView, Hydro-Bunny, OMCI, Live Scan and FAIRcabin. DrumView is developing an automated cabin inspection system for more efficient, precise and sustainable maintenance. The partners include ZAL, 3D.aero GmbH and the Hamburg University of Technology (TU). Hydro-Bunny, on the other hand, is setting up a mobile system for the autonomous supply of hydrogen for drones in partnership with Teccon GmbH, mb+Partner, ZAL GmbH, TU Hamburg.
The Hamburgische Investitions- und Förderbank (IFB Hamburg) has provided up to €3.9 million for Hamburg's Green Aviation Technologies II (GATE II) scheme. The scheme benefits five projects at the intersection of research and industry by aviation SMEs that drive the transition towards more sustainable aviation and strengthen Hamburg as an aviation hub.
GATE II to transform aviation
Additive cabin construction, AI-assisted maintenance and sustainable cabin concept
The OMCI – Additive Manufacturing for Large Cabin Components project explores how large-format cabin components can be produced and certified using 3D printing to create lighter, recyclable components, thereby reducing energy consumption. The project is being carried out in partnership with ZAL GmbH and Lufthansa Technik AG. The interactive LiveScan AI assistance systems for aircraft maintenance will analyse and support maintenance processes in real time to improves safety, transparency and efficiency in partnership with Synergeticon GmbH, Lufthansa Technik AG and TU Hamburg. Fair Cabin has designed a sustainable cabin concept with modular, recyclable components focussed on ergonomics and crew needs. This project is being carried out with CompriseTec GmbH, BFGF GmbH & Co. KG, jetlite GmbH, HAW Hamburg, Diehl Aviation, Safran Innovation, Climatex AG.
