Who's who of German Creative Economy to meet in Hamburg

Creatives meet politicians and business representatives during summit on March 5-6, 2025 - over 130 speakers

This year’s German Creative Economy Summit (GCES) on March 5-6, 2025, will come up with possible solutions to how creatives work in future and highlight risks and opportunities facing the sector. Hosted by Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, the summit will identify policy measures needed to bolster the creative industries in future. The national summit in Hamburg's Kampnagel is expected to attract creative professionals, entrepreneurs and idea generators, as well as representatives of commerce, politics, academia, associations and national funding institutions. The agenda features several around 60 keynotes, panel discussions, workshops and masterclasses.

Platform for sharing and innovation

"Our work shows how targeted promotion and networking in the creative industries can make a lasting contribution to strengthening Germany's economic clout," said Egbert Rühl, Managing Director of Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft. "The GCES is more than just a conference. It is a platform for talks and innovation and positions both the creative industries in Hamburg and the entire German cultural and creative industries as key players in a forward-looking economy." Topics on the agenda include work and education, urbanisation and sustainability, policy and technology and Innovation. More than 130 speakers will be holding conferences and providing insights. The expected speakers include Fränzi Kühne, founder of TLGG and CDO of the Edding Group, OMR founder Philipp Westermeyer and Jean-Remy von Matt, joint founder of Jung von Matt. British publicist Charles Landry, Dr Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media and art historian Florian Illies have confirmed their attendance.

Creative work as an economic catalyst

The GCES brings together all the eleven sub-sectors of the industry from music and film to books, art, press, architecture, broadcasting, design, software, games and the performing arts. lnitiated by the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft in 2024, the summit aims to shape the future of the creative industries, advance the German economy and boost innovation and creative work under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Media in Hamburg.
