Westfield welcomes 4 million visitors

Westfield-Überseequartier jubilant after first successful three months since opening - more new shops and restaurants

The Westfield-Überseequartier in HafenCity has welcomed 4 million visitors since it opened in April. Managers are"very optimistic about the coming months", a spokesperson said.  The centre is expected to attract 16.2 visitors to HafenCity annually as it not simply a shopping centre, but also a socializing and for leisure activities, the spokesperson added.

Constant new openings 

The 419,000 square metre Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier houses 132 shops, 40 restaurants and cafés and a Kinopolis cinema bringing occupancy to 95 per cent. The new Marc Cain shop is due to open on August 13 followed by the KJ Adventure World at the end of the month. The  "Elemente" restaurant and the "Air Bar 13" are set to become part of Westfield next year. Apart from eateries, shopping, entertainment and cultural offers, Überseequartier also includes three Accor hotels and 579 flats. The centre is constantly being upgraded.

One place, many possible uses

The Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier brings together a variety of uses in HafenCity. It comprises hotels, a shopping centre, cruise terminals, leisure and fitness facilities, as well as flats and office space. French investor Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield executed the project, and built 14 structures at a cost of €2.5 billion. The district is not yet complete and two berths for cruise ships are to be built on the southern side and will be operational soon.
