Most important trade fairs and congresses in 2024

The jobs market in green energy resources is expanding. Specialists and lateral entrants from other fields will be able to find out about a wide range of employment opportunities at the Renewable Energies recruitment fair. Jobseekers will engage with companies in the sector offering work in northern Germany during the online fair on 29 and 30 May. Hydrogen is an important factor in the energy transition. Representatives from business, academia and politics will convene in Hotel Hafen Hamburg for the Third International Hydrogen Business Forum on 7 May 2024. The exchange of ideas on the hydrogen economy will be promoted at the international hydrogen forum at the Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe from 23 to 24 October. This top international trade fair is being held for the first time in Hamburg – at the Hamburg Messe grounds. 

The international wind energy sector will gather at Wind Energy Hamburg from 24 to 27 September. Alliances in sustainability for a better world will be at the focus at the global gathering of the Hamburg Sustainability Conference (7 to 8 October). The Carbon Capture Technology Expo Europe on 23 and 24 October will focus on how to accelerate moves to introduce and market technologies for separating carbon compounds on the path to net zero emissions. 

Internorga is the leading international trade fair for the hospitality and restaurant industry. The sector's exhibitors and speakers will be on hand in the Hamburg Messe halls from 8 to 12 March. Decision-takers in the hotel business, gastronomy and catering will gather at the same time at Gastro Vision in the Empire Riverside Hotel from 8 to 11 March. 

Startups on the food scene are meeting representatives from commerce, gastronomy and politics, as well as investors, at the Food Innovation Camp on 17 June. Entrepreneurs setting up their own companies will have the opportunity to display and pitch their food innovations and to exchange views at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

The digital sector is also meeting in Hamburg in 2024. The DSAG Technology Days are among the most important events for knowledge transfer from technologists and those interested in technology. Current developments and trends around SAP in the technological world will be showcased in the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH) on 6 and 7 February. D3con will be staged in the Cinemaxx in Hamburg Dammtor on 12 and 13 March. Advertisers, along with representatives from agencies and platforms will swap ideas here on the future of digital advertising. Digital marketing strategies will be examined in a series of presentations. The OMR Festival in the Hamburg Messe halls on 7 and 8 May will highlight these strategies. The Online Marketing Rockstars are putting on concerts as well as presentations by stars in the sector. Key players will in addition introduce themselves at the fair. Blockchance is Europe's leading conference on Blockchain technology. Representatives from business and industry are meeting in the CCH from 16 to 18 October under the rubric "The Web 3 Conference" to discuss the future of Blockchain.

The Hamburg Messe halls take off between 28 and 30 May, when airline cabins and their design will be at the focus. International companies will be presenting their new ideas for aircraft cabins at the Aircraft Interiors Expo. 

At the same time, the World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo will highlight up-to-date travel catering trends. The SMM (Shipbuilding, Machinery and Marine Technology) international trade fair will bring together decision-takers and professionals in the maritime sector for the 31st time between 3 and 6 September.

The international games sector is to get together around the theme "Invest in Games" with the focus on business at the Hamburg Games Conference on 5 and 6 March. The German Creative Economy Summit, which convenes in the Kampnagel performing arts venue on 6 and 7 March, along with politicians, academia and administration, aims to boost the creative sector.

Photopia puts photography at the focus. Companies in the sector will showcase their technical innovations at the Messe Hamburg fair grounds, where photographic experts will make presentations and hold workshops from 10 to 13 October. The Messe halls will be turned into a large Community Universe with the Polaris Convention, which will draw anime and gaming fans, along with fans of Asian pop culture, to Hamburg from 11 to 13 October. 

When it comes to interesting trade fairs, a look beyond the city can certainly pay off: Hydrogen experts from all over Europe will be convening at Hyvolution in Paris, France's leading trade fair in this sunrise industry sector, from 30 January to 1 February. Hamburg-based businesses will be there as well. The Transform B2B event will showcase the latest technologies and solutions towards digitalising business processes and models in Berlin on 6 and 7 March. The Hannover Messe (Hanover Fair) between 22 and 26 April is the event that focuses on the future of industry. Zero-emission energy, Industry 4.0, hydrogen and fuel cells, along with AI and machine learning, are all on the programme. And the digital marketing and tech sector gathers in Cologne on 18 and 19 September at DMEXCO, the leading trade fair in the sector in Europe.

Munich is hosting the international trade fair for real estate and investment between 7 and 9 October. The Expo Real draws companies from Hamburg every year. Another major real estate event is the MIPIM in Cannes, which attracts players from all parts of the international real estate sector between 12 and 15 March.
