Focus on food during summit from May 12- 15 - two new ambassadors

The next HamburgAmbassadors meeting gets underway from May 12-15, 2025  in the Food Harbour. This year, emphasis is on transforming the food industry and Hamburg's latest food cluster. Around 33 honorary ambassadors from over 26 countries, who work on Hamburg's behalf, will meet in what is now a global food centre. 

Hamburg as a dynamic business location

"Hamburg favours innovation, growth and sustainable economic development," said Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Marketing GmbH. "The HamburgAmbassadors play a key role in spreading this message and positioning Hamburg as a dynamic business location." All the latest projects and collaborations including the new Food Cluster Hamburg which connects companies, startups and science and positions Hamburg as an important European food hub will be presented. BLUU Seafood, a pioneer in cell-based fish production, will present innovative technologies for sustainable nutrition. The agenda also features a visit to Ohly GmbH, a supplier of fermentation-based food ingredients.

Two new HamburgAmbassadors

Two new HamburgAmbassadors, who are based in Italy and Ghana, will also attend the meeting. Paul Nemitz from Rome, most recently Principal Advisor in the European Commission's Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers, focuses on digitalisation, fundamental rights and European partnerships. Carsten Düwer, Managing Director of C. Woermann Ghana in Accra, a long-established trading company in West Africa, will input his  experience in foreign trade and market development to strengthen bilateral relations in the region. "As a 'gateway to the world', Hamburg has maintained good relations with all continentsfor centuries," said Peter Tschentscher, Mayor of Hamburg. The network of volunteer HamburgAmbassadors is highly committed to raising Hamburg's global image and boost thecity's international presence.

Launched in 2005, the international Hamburg Ambassadors network is unique in Germany in terms of structure.  The ambassadors are appointed by the Mayor of Hamburg to honorary positions and use their networks, expertise to enhance Hamburg's global image. The threads of the network come together at Hamburg Marketing GmbH, which organizes and co-ordinates the scheme.
