Members of the new cluster are to receive funding and support from the Food Cluster Hamburg following a decision by the senate, consultations with the Hamburg Parliament and a survey. The shareholders include the City of Hamburg (51 per cent), the Foodactive e.V. (44 per cent) association and Süderelbe AG (5 per cent). Foodactive represents 155 leading companies in the food industry in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. Sascha Taube , a 41-year-old business graduate who has worked as Head of Business Acceleration & Innovation in Group Strategy at the Deutsches Milchkontor, has been appointed Managing Director of the new cluster. The organisation seeks closer collaborations between companies, research institutions and other stakeholders in the food industry, thereby strengthening Hamburg as a food centre.

Merger to boost transformation of food industry across entire Hamburg Metropolitan Region
Around 4,500 companies in Hamburg Metropolitan Region with around 123,000 employees have formed the Food Cluster Hamburg to promote innovation, create jobs and boost the industry in the city and across the region.
