"The quality of the projects submitted has revealed how versatile, creative and professional Hamburg's music scene is," said Andrea Rothaug, Managing Director of Rock City Hamburg e. V. The high number of applications indicates the great, ongoing need for financial support.
EUR 500,000 from Ministry of Culture and Rock City Hamburg for local music scene
Around 66 pop music projects are being funded on the heels of 179 applications for so-called “MOVEUP” grants by the Ministry of Culture and Rock City Hamburg e. V. to get musicians back on stage and into studios following the pandemic. The ministry has made EUR 500,000 available from the Corona Aid Package for Culture.

Professional and semi-professional musicians, producers, bands and DJs are eligible for the funding, which is geared towards creative artists in pop music and genres that cannot be classified as classical or new music or jazz. Rock City and a jury of five experts selected 35 composition and production projects as well as 31 PR, marketing and multimedia projects.
