Apply now for "Hamburg Music Business Support" by Ministry for Culture and Media

The Ministry for Culture and Media has prolonged the "Hamburg Music Business Support" scheme in support of the many SMEs in the music industry. Applications for grants are now being accepted from independent musicians, small recording studios, music labels and publishers. Launched in 2020, the scheme is being carried out with the Hamburg Music association.

Grants of up to EUR 300,000

Self-employed musicians can obtain up to EUR 10,000 while music businesses can access up to EUR 300,000 to reschedule cancelled music events or to secure ongoing projects. Up to 90 per cent of the running costs can be covered. The "Hamburg Music Business Support" aims to alleviate some of the financial problems facing SMEs and independent musicians in the wake of the pandemic.

Preserving diversity in music industry

The renewed aid should enable musicians to perform concerts again despite the ongoing shortage of skilled personnel and infrastructure. "The support scheme complements existing federal aid to maintain the diversity of the music industry in Hamburg and makes it easier to organise concerts in Hamburg," said Dr Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media. In May, the ministry announced plans to provide EUR 600,000 in funds for independent music projects via the Music City Fund.
