Hamburg Airport ranks top 25 holiday destinations in 2023

North Germans flew to some 400 destinations last year - city breaks in Europe and Asia remain popular

Hamburg Airport has ranked the 25 most popular holiday destinations among north Germans in 2023. a press release said Friday (February 23, 2024). Destinations in Spain, Turkey and Greece emerged as the favourites, the survey of 14,00 passengers found. Dubai and Bangkok topped the list of the most popular  long-haul destinations.

Majorca and three Canary Islands in top 10

The Spanish island of Majorca topped the rank followed by winter getaways of Antalya in Turkey, Hurghada in Egypt, the Canary Islands of Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria, Crete, Istanbul and Tenerife. London came ninth followed by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

Other popular destinations 

Munich was the only German destination to miss out on the top 10. Other Spanish destinations including Malaga and Alicante also featured in the top 25 as well as  Izmir in Turkey, the Greek islands of Kos, Rhodes and Corfu and the Greek port of Thessaloniki. Faro and Lisbon in Portugal proved popular summer destinations. City breaks such as Barcelona, Vienna, Zurich and Bangkok remain popular.
