Wizz Air to increase flights to southern Europe from Hamburg Airport

Hungarian airline expands network with flights to Catania and Rome from Hamburg Airport next spring

Hungary's Wizz Air has announced plans to operate direct flights from Hamburg Airport to Catania in Sicily and Rome from late March 2024, a press release said Wednesday (December 13, 2023). The airline has operated mostly flights to eight eastern European destinations hitherto. 

Destinations in southern Europe

The airline will operate an Airbus A321 on the Hamburg to Catania route on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Flights from Hamburg to Rome with Wizz Air will be available four times a week from spring 2024. "Wizz Air's services have so far targeted mostly people who want to visit family and friends in their native land," said Dirk Behrens, Head of Aviation at Hamburg Airport. The airline’s winter flight schedule includes only destinations in eastern Europe namely Serbia, Poland, Georgia, Romania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria and Albania making it the largest operator of flights to the region from Hamburg Airport.
