Personal well-being is among their top priorities. Around 42 per cent of interviewees expressed a wish to do more sport in 2024 followed closely by avoiding and preventing stress (38.5 per cent). One in three plan to spend more time with family and friends and to eat healthier meals. Some 17 per cent of interviewees have their sights set on climate and environment-friendlier behaviour in the New Year.
One-third of interviewees still keeping to resolutions for 2023
Around 2,290 residents of Hamburg took part in the FOM University's survey about their New Year resolutions from September to October 2023. As the year draws to a close, the Christmas survey gives some insight into their good intentions.

One third of respondents keeping resolutions for 2023
More than 50 per cent of interviewees who made resolutions for 2023 actually kept them at least a few months, the survey found and around 34 per cent said they were still sticking to their good intentions. However, around 66 per cent of all respondents did not keep their resolutions for 2023 at all or just for a few days or months. The survey also collected information on Christmas spending, people receiving gifts and the respondents' current living situation.
