Over 300,000 visitors expected at Hamburger Kunsthalle by April 1

Sold out - Tickets for the Caspar David Friedrich anniversary exhibition in the Hamburger Kunsthalle are sold out four weeks before it is due to end on April 1, 2024. More than 300,000 people will have visited the exhibtion by that date marking a great success for Hamburg as a cultural centre and a record for a single exhibition.

Launch of Friedrich Festival

The success of the exhibition in Hamburg, which opened in December, confirms the enduring fascination with the German artist. The exhibition marks the beginning of the Friedrich Festival, which will also tour to the Alte Nationalgalerie of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden. As well as additional exhibitions, the three museums have set up a joint web portal on Friedrich's work with multimedia content for an in-depth exploration of his oeuvre.

City of Culture Hamburg bringing art to life

The Hamburger Kunsthalle is also offering a 360° tour, a film and several audio guides on its website. Other initiatives in Hamburg are also endeavouring to make art and culture more accessible . As part of the "Mixing is Possible" cultural campaign, the Ministry of Culture and Media as well as Hamburg Marketing are drawing attention to the city's diverse cultural scene.
