Volotea now flying twice a week to Bordeaux, Lyon and Florence

Spain's Volotea airline is now operating, new direct flights to Florence, Bordeaux and Lyon twice a week from Hamburg Airport, a press release said Tuesday (0ctober 10, 2023). The airline is now operating nine routes to Germany and three from Hamburg.

Hamburg attractive destination for holiday and business travellers

"We aim to ensure that the metropolitan city of Hamburg is well connected throughout Europe," said Dirk Behrens, Head of Aviation at Hamburg Airport. "We focus on the main capitals as well as other regions to ensure the best possible connections." It is unusual for an airline to offer such a broad range of services at a new location nowadays and indicates Hamburg's attractiveness as a holiday destination and for and business travellers, he added.

Volotea connecting 100 cities on 354 routes across Europe

Launched in 2011 by the founders of Vueling, Volotea, links up over 100 cities on 354 routes across Europe. Headquartered in Barcelona, the airline now operates 19 bases in Spain, Italy, France and Greece and has launched operations in Düsseldorf, Stuttgart and Berlin airports. The fleet maintains 41 Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft. Volotea has operated flights between the Airbus sites in Toulouse and Hamburg-Finkenwerder since 2019.
