"We want to show that art and physics can be fun for everyone and reach a wide audience - from nurseries and schools to social media-savvy young people and their parents - by taking a playful approach to complex issues," said Irem Sozugecer, Managing Director for Northern Europe. Rooms full of mirrors and optical illusions make visitors appear to be floating, huge or sitting on a sofa split in two. Visitors In the Zero Gravity Room seem to float through space. Other rooms have been designed especially for the museum in Hamburg and are inspired by the River Elbe or the flair of St Pauli.
The three-storey Paradox Museum opened its doors Friday (November 29, 2024) to offer optical illusions, local art and interactive experiences in Hamburg. The latest flagship of the Paradox Museum Group, which is based in Greece and Croatia, features some 50 interactive installations that bring physical and mathematical phenomena to life. The 1,300 square metre building is larger than its counterparts in London and Paris.
Art meets science
Novel museum experience in Hamburg
The Paradox Museum Group operates edutainment outlets in 13 other cities including Berlin, Barcelona, New York, Paris and Shanghai. The branch in Hamburg is the group's latest museum and links up to the local art scene. Darko C. Nikolic, for instance, presents his 3D work "Crossing" and Siddhartha Omar will exhibit his calligraphic paintings. There will be temporary exhibitions from 2025.
