Ministry of Culture's campaign highlights possibilities in art and culture

The Ministry of Culture and Media is highlighting Hamburg’s diverse cultural offers on 400 billboards as part of a campaign designed by the Hamburg-based gürtlerbachmann agency. This comes as more and more cultural centres reopen their doors after corona-induced closures. Museums, galleries, the Planetarium Hamburg, memorials, drive-in and ordinary cinemas are now offering events in addition to theatres and concerts halls. An overview and calendar of events can be found on www.hamburg.de/was-geht.

Hygiene concepts behind events

"It is great to see the creativity and passion with which cultural life is returning to our city. The last few months have shown what is lacking when we have no opportunity to experience art and culture together," said Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media. Several cultural institutions in Hamburg are offering a programme of events for residents and visitors alike. The organisers have developed hygiene concepts to protect the health protection of both employees and visitors.

First festivals from August

Theatres are also among those gradually  resuming operations. After the long break, Hamburg's State Theatre and the Elbphilharmonie are laying plans to start the new season with adapted performance schedules. The returning festivals include the Kampnagel festival in August, the Reeperbahn Festival in September, the Harbour Front Literature Festival (in September and October) and the Filmfest Hamburg in October.
