The university scored particularly well in the categories "Environmental Sustainability", "Environmental Education" and "Knowledge Exchange" and scored 94.3 out of 100 points.
The University of Hamburg (UHH) has topped the latest QS Sustainability Ranking. UHH jumped from 91st to 17th in Europe and 29th worldwide, the top position in Germany, a press release said Tuesday (December 10, 2024). The ranking assessed around 1,800 universities worldwide in terms of their sustainability based on the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

UHH's targeted measures include the publication of the first climate protection report, awarding sustainability certificates to students and hosting the Sustainability Days in October.
"We will continue on this path in order to develop innovative solutions for the pressing challenges of our time as a living lab for social transformation,” said Prof. Dr. Laura Marie Edinger-Schons, Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) at the University of Hamburg.
