Hamburg Sustainability Week for more sustainable city

Events from June 1-6 to boost sustainable innovations locally - enter your event now

The Hamburg Sustainability Week (HSW) gets underway from June  1-6, 2025 under the theme of "Creating connections, accelerating change". Local stakeholders will come together to develop ideas for more sustainability in Hamburg. The events will be held parallel to the Hamburg Sustainability Conference (HSC) from June 2-4, 2025. Representatives of the political sphere, commerce and science will work on common approaches to achieving the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Local events global goals

"We make sustainability tangible and show how local events can contribute to achieving global goals," said Jens Kerstan, Senator for Environment, Climate, Energy and Agriculture. Stakeholders in civil society, commerce, local government, science and culture can submit their events, such as workshops, panel discussions or round tables, for the week. The Chamber of Commerce will host a sustainability workshop on June 4, 2025 focusing on local issues and their alignment with the SDGs. Residents of Hamburg can learn about sustainable experiences, interactive formats, exhibitions and cultural events.

Hamburg Sustainability Conference

The Hamburg Sustainability Conference was initiated by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the United Nations Development Programme, the City of Hamburg and the Michael Otto Foundation. The global conference first brought together global leaders in politics, commerce business, science and society in 2024. The conference in the Chamber of Commerce and Hamburg City Hall centre on multilateral talks and attracted  around 1,600 delegates from over 100 countries.
