Leading global representatives of commerce, science and civil society and the political sphere are planning joint procedures to achieve the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The agenda includes strategy meetings on how to remain competitive in a green economy and panels on topics such as reconciling growth and decarbonisation. "Future Talks" or "Solution Talks" will strive to find answers to urgent global issues and problems. Emphasis is on green shipping and green aviation, which are particularly important for Hamburg as a business centre.
The Hamburg Sustainability Conference (HSC) gets underway from June 2-3, 2025 after the first summit in 2024 attracted more than 1,600 delegates from 100 countries. HSC coincides with the Hamburg Sustainability Week (HSW) underway from June 1- 6 and will see all kinds of stakeholders come together to boost sustainability in Hamburg. Lars Klingbeil, Germany's Vice-Chancellor and Minister for Finance, is expected to give the opening speech on June 3, 2025.

HSW encourages delegates at the conference and the general public to learn more about sustainability in the supply chain and to discuss how to deal with unavoidable emissions. 6 days - 100 events: Representatives of society, companies, local government, science and culture were earlier asked to submit their ideas on sustainable projects and initiatives for workshops, panels or round table discussions.

Hamburg advancing climate research
Cutting-edge research into climate, climate change and its impact is underway in the Klima Campus Hamburg and at universities and institutions throughout the city. The Hamburg Metropolitan Region is home to numerous companies and international wind power companies. And in recent years, the region has become a model of forward-looking energy systems and is on course to become a north European green hydrogen hub.
