"We learn by doing," Hamburg construction company now focussing on sustainable buidling
Cement production is responsible for over 8 per cent of global CO2 emission making the industry one of the highest emitters. Yet this binding agent is crucial to the construction industry. But is there another way to build? Blu Gesellschaft für nachhaltige Immobilienprojekte, a subsidiary of the Aug. Prien Group, is now trying to come up with an alternative. In our latest Future Hamburg Talk, Carsten Joost, Manager Director of Blu, outlines the use of cement-free geopolymer concrete in a pilot project in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region…a first in German construction. Joost talks about the opportunities and lessons learned, and explains why more diversity is needed in housing construction.
