Gamecity Hamburg now funding prototypes of digital games

Start-ups and SMEs' ideas for prototypes accepted until deadline on April 8, 2024 - up to EUR 80,000 available

Gamecity Hamburg is accepting applications for its 2024 prototype funding scheme until the deadline of April 8, 2024. Founders, start-ups and SMEs can avail of up to EUR 80,000 in funds. A total of 400,000 per annum is available to develop games.

New diversity checklist

Developers or SMEs based in Hamburg, those who wish to relocate or set up a branch or headquarters in the city can also apply for prototype funding. Gamecity Hamburg is also introducing a new checklist to boost diversity in the team structure and prototype content. The checklist will be taken into account when evaluating projects. Dennis Schoubye, Head of Gamecity Hamburg, said: "Games are the leading medium of our time and can showcase diverse voices, perspectives and stories.” A preliminary interview with Gamecity Hamburg is mandatory as well as an ideas pitch to stand a chance of success.

Games Lift Incubator 

Launched in 2020, the prototype funding has supported 26 digital games projects with over EUR 1.4 million so far. The Games Lift Incubator scheme offers start-ups funds of EUR 15,000, coaching and mentoring by global industry experts as well as workshops and ongoing support. Applications for the Games Lift Incubator will be accepted from May 2-June 10, 2024.
