Five start-ups pitch business ideas in finals of Media Lift

Incubator focusing on content and technology

Five finalists in the Media Lift incubator presented their business models during an event broadcast live on Monday (August 24, 2020. A jury had selected the finalists out of 30 entrants all of whom combine business ideas in the fields of content and technology. 

Graduating pitch and digital networking

Participants had received EUR 15,000 per team and the tools needed to fine-tune their business ideas in virtual workshops, coaching sessions, challenges or mentoring sessions since the incubator launched in March. The finalists highlighted their development and presented their products during the graduating pitch. A subsequent Q&A session and a digital networking round gave all virtual visitors an opportunity to get to know the teams and the nextMedia.Hamburg network consisting of founders, investors and drivers of innovation in Hamburg and elsewhere.

Agile responses to challenges this year

"The second round of Media Lift has shown how much potential there is in the content and tech industry and what opportunities this programme offers the Hamburg media landscape," said Egbert Rühl, Managing Director of the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft. "We are increasingly positioning ourselves as a driver of innovation in the creative industries by promoting start-ups and disruption." This offers participants great opportunities to formulate ideas clearly and to address partners and investors. Participants had reacted in an agile manner and adapted business areas, developed brand new projects in a virtual teams or demonstrated key skills such as adaptability and responsiveness in a year marked by huge challenges. 


ChefTreff is likely to render career fairs a thing of the past. The start-up is rethinking recruiting processes and brings students and young professionals together with managers during analogous events and digitally on a content platform.

Hello World
Hello World  is revolutionizing language learning by combining insights from the psychology of learning with the latest developments in object recognition. The start-up uses machine learning to integrate its own environment into the learning process.

Glass panels become digital advertising spaces with hoλos. The Hamburg-based start-up's system can also display advertising adapted to gender and age groups individually.

Invest it! Academy
The Invest it! Academy seeks to close the education gap and teach young people about finances free of charge. The non-profit start-up covers topics such as budgeting, the difference between investing and speculating, insurance and old age provision.

musicube is always looking for music to suit every taste and situation. Artificial intelligence allows the start-up to analyze more than 43 million recordings according to criteria such as tempo, key, mood, instrumentation and contributors.
