"If we have learned anything from the recent weeks and months, then that nothing can replace our togetherness. As a platform for transferring innovation, we at the Hamburg Innovation Summit consider it our duty to offer all those interested in innovation and technology a networking event even in these times," said Anette Eberhardt, Project Co-ordinator. The HHIS will remain a bridge between research, business and politics and in a virtual space as well.
The Hamburg Innovation Summit (HHIS) will go ahead as the "#HHIS goes virtual" on September 24, 2020 after the original event scheduled for May was cancelled amid the corona crisis. The #HHIS aims to bring Hamburg's innovative scene together to exchange ideas based on best practices from companies and start-ups. The expected delegates include Tijen Onaran, founder of Global Digital Women, and Christoph Magnussen, an expert on New Work, and founder of the Blackboat consultancy. The three-hour livestream is free of charge.
Summit as platform for transferring innovation
Keynotes, interactive talks and awards
The virtual #HHIS will be broadcast live from the Stage Theater in the Port of Hamburg. Onaran will present the event from 10 am. Magnussen's keynote will be followed by interactive Waterkant-Talks. Katharina Fegebank, Senator for Science, Research and Equality and Deputy Mayor of Hamburg, Dr. Melanie Leonhard, Senator for Social Affairs, and Michael Westhagemann, Senator for Economics, will give their views and answer the audience's questions in a live chat. The winner of the Hamburg Innovation Awards (HHIA) will be selected from nine finalists in a livestream. Viewers will then have an opportunity to take part in free online webinars.
Hamburg as a centre of innovation
The HHIS is organised by the Ministry of Economics and Innovation, the Hamburgische Investitions- und Förderbank and Hamburg Innovation GmbH. The HHIS sees itself as a platform for transferring innovation and building bridges between research, economy, politics and society. The HHIS focuses on strengthening Hamburg as a centre of innovation by linking up visionaries, founders and shapers of the future and knowledge-based, innovative founders. The event consists of a conference with workshops at the academy, an exhibition and award ceremony. The summit attracts around 1,500 visitors every year.
