Anjes Tjarks, Senator for Transport and Mobility Transition, remarked: "The rail link is by far the fastest and most convenient way to commute between Germany's biggest cities. We want to continue this - both on a national level and here in Hamburg. The German government and Deutsche Bahn must continue to significantly expand the infrastructure and make this possible everywhere." The increased connections is a positive sign, especially amid the coronavirus pandemic, he added, as it sends a “very good message and creates more space on every single train”. This helps achieve the mobility transition and protects the health of all passengers in the best possible way. Around 6,000 additional train seats will be available thanks to the higher frequency on the route.
