This year’s award will be presented in eight main categories and in the new "Sustainable Cabin" category in response to aviation's goal of becoming a zero-emission industry within the next 30 years. Entries that have a significant effect on the environmental impact of aviation are in demand. Another new category, "Health & Safety," will cover health and hygiene issues that are more relevant than ever in the wake of the pandemic.
New and revised categories for aircraft cabin award - deadline for applications in early February
Sustainable innovations are to be highlighted during this year’s Crystal Cabin Award after the addition of the new "Sustainable Cabin" category. The event will be held as a face-to-face event during the world's leading trade fair Aircraft Interiors Expo (June 14-16), Hamburg Aviation said. Applications for the Crystal Cabin Award can be submitted on the website until the deadline of February 6, 2022.

Awards will also be presented in the "Cabin Concepts," "Cabin Systems," "Passenger Comfort" and "Material & Components," categories while the "Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity" class will be supplemented by "Digital Services" to honour solutions for more digitalised aircraft cabins. The "University" category gives students an opportunity to present their forward-looking ideas and products for the aircraft cabin to the global public and to forge contacts within the industry.
A 27-member expert jury will select three finalists in each category. The contestants will present their ideas in person to leading members of the industry at the final viewing. Last year's winners included multiple award winner Safran, Airbus, Eviation among others.
