Michael Westhagemann, Senator for Economics, remarked: "Aviation is facing tremendous upheaval in the coming decades. An aviation industry that does not make sustainability one of its cornerstones will have no future in the long term. Our goal is to remain one of the world's largest aviation centres and to play a visible role in the transformation of the industry into a sustainable one. GATE is step towards that goal." The ministry is funding individual projects with up to EUR 500,000 maximum and co-operative projects launched by Hamburg-based companies with up to EUR 1 million maximum. The funding will be issued by the IFB (Investitions- und Förderbank) Hamburg. Applications can be submitted until April 30, 2022. Hamburg Aviation is hosting a a workshop on GATE on January 13, 2022.
