German Association of the Concert and Event Industry to strengthen women in industry

The Bundesverband der Konzert- und Veranstaltungswirtschaft e.V. (BDKV) has launched the new "BDKV Female Voice" network to achieve more equal opportunities in the industry, a press release said Tuesday (August 27, 2024). The network should raise the visibility of women in the live industry, boost careers and provide a platform for interaction and further training. The network will meet on September 17, 2024 during the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg and on November 13, 2024 for the BDKV’s Annual General Meeting.

Network to boost diversity in event industry

"The BDKV Female Voice is an asset to the industry and is in line with our mission as an association to support companies amid social change, tap into new potential and make the industry a more attractive workplace," said Johannes Everke, Managing Director of BDKV. All women in BDKV member companies are invited to join the network and to strengthen their voice in the live industry. New members will be welcomed at the Annual General Meeting, during which the first projects will also be launched.

Regular meetings planned

"BDKV Female Voice" held its first workshop in July 2024 in Frankfurt. Talks, led by Verena Krämer,  Board Member of BDKV and Astrid Eckstein, coach and consultant, centred on the main issues facing the event industry in a bid to come up with strategic measures. "We have given ourselves an opportunity to achieve more diversity in our industry, establish positive role models and to boost new careers . The industry will benefit from a more female perspective," said Krämer. Regular meetings should strengthen the network and advance projects.
