"The Music City Fund benefits and strengthens sophisticated artistic concepts, especially in the independent music scene," said Dr Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media. Funding is available for high-quality, innovative concepts and events that revive the music scene or strengthen musical genres and co-operations. Projects that put musical offers in Hamburg on an international scale or those specially-tailored to children and young people are also welcome.

Applications are now being accepted for grants from Hamburg's Music City Fund 2024, awarded by the Ministry of Culture and Media, a press release said Friday (April 14, 2023). A total of EUR 600,000 is available for the independent music scene. The deadline for online applications ends on June 15, 2023.

Funding for performances
Natural persons and legal entities in the independent music scene are eligible to apply for grants. An independent jury will decide on the recipients. Apart from developing their own project, musicians will also have an opportunity to present their works in the Elbphilharmonie and the Laeiszhalle thanks to funding for performances.
