Leading global trade fair for the wind industry to be held as physical event in September. H2 Expo and Conference planned as parallel event

Wind Energy Hamburg 2022 will once again turn the city on the Elbe into a global meeting point for the wind energy sector under the rubric “Climate First”. The organizers are expecting around 1,400 exhibitors and more than 35,000 participants from all over the world in the Hamburg Messe and Congress between 27 and 30 September. The theme of green hydrogen is set to take a central role among the current trends and products of the onshore and offshore sectors. For the first time the new H2 Expo and Conference will take place parallel to the main event. The production, distribution and utilisation of the technologies of the future will be at the centre.

Wind Energy Hamburg 2022: green hydrogen in focus

“Green hydrogen is the theme of the future, and we would like to give it the largest possible stage at Wind Energy Hamburg 2022,” says Bernd Aufderheide, chair of the Hamburg Messe and Congress GmbH board. The entire sector will be on hand, from project developers to startups, to exchange ideas with players from business and politics. Visitors will also be able to experience the global value creation chain of the wind industry and of turbine construction to gain a perspective of the sector’s current status and its future.

Hamburg will be the global wind industry’s meeting place

“In a sector that is developing so dynamically, our Wind Energy Hamburg is the event at which the major players, decision-takers and pioneers gather information, network and close deals,” Aufderheide continues. “Focused global knowledge transfer can be conducted here.” A range of opportunities for networking and for presentations from wind energy experts are to be provided alongside the exhibition. And for the first time, the conference programme will be made available to all visitors free of charge.

Wind Energy Hamburg has been held every two years since 2014 in the Elbe metropolis and is seen as the wind industry’s leading global trade fair. The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), the European association WindEurope and the German associations, VDMA and BWE, have been involved in designing the programme. In 2020, Wind Energy Hamburg was held in digital format on account of the pandemic.
