Daunting path from university student to entrepreneur - knowing requirements can help

Founders of university spin-offs meet with a dynamic business climate and a wide range of support and development opportunities throughout Hamburg. The city is a centre of science with many renowned colleges, universities and research institutions. The University of Hamburg is one of Germany's ten universities of excellence and among the largest with around 43,000 students.

Financing and counselling

The nationwide EXIST Business Start-up Grant provides funding for founders from universities and research institutions. Knowledge-based start-ups can avail of support from the Startup Port among others. The association co-ordinates the start-up centres of ten universities and research institutions in Hamburg. It offers students, researchers, potential entrepreneurs, start-ups, established companies and investors coaching and networking opportunities.
