Applications now being accepted for IDEA award

Senate announces EUR 25,000 in prize money for gender equality in digital space

Individuals, start-ups, associations, companies and organisations now have until the deadline of September 6, 2024 to apply for the "Innovation in Digital Equality Award" (IDEA) awards. The senate has announced EUR 25,000 in prize money to be presented in an honorary category as well as sponsorship. The award boosts women’s equality in the digital space.

Advancing equal opportunities and digitalisation

"The digital transformation can only succeed, if it is shaped by women. Equal opportunities must go hand in hand with digitalisation," said Katharina Fegebank, Senator for Science, Research and Equality. The IDEA award promotes women's participation in the digital space and raises their visibility. Previous winners have shown how modern tools and AI applications can involve women in digital planning and design thereby raising awareness and promoting equality.

Award to combat gender discrimination

The award recognises technical innovations or concepts that digitise analogue solutions and take gender equality a step further. This includes apps, online tools, digital procedures or ideas for digital infrastructure that focus on specific situations, needs and barriers to equal opportunities for women. The prize is awarded to exemplary, outstanding women who are committed to equal opportunities or who are shaping the digital economy. The IDEA award also welcomes innovations that combat gender discrimination in various fields. The award will be presented on November 28, 2024 in Hamburg’s City Hall.
