Bands and orchestras from all corners of globe to perform in August

Tickets for the "Elbphilharmonie Summer" underway from August 10 -September 1, 2022 are now on sale. Music lovers can look forward to concerts by bands and orchestras from all over the world including classical stars such as Lisa Batiashvili, soul singer Joy Denalane and other international musicians. Two silent film classics accompanied by live music will be screened outside the concert hall.

Three weeks of pop, jazz and classical music

Jazz musician Kenny Barron will get concerts started on August 10 followed by performances such as soul singer Joy Denalane and pianist Jason Moran. Three leading U.S. orchestras are also expected in Hamburg this summer. Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra will perform with the soprano, Angel Blue, and predominantly black, female composers to send a signal for more diversity and equal opportunities. Certain concerts will be broadcast live on a large screen outside the concert hall.

Silent films with live music

Touted as the "fifth season", the Elbphilharmonie Summer offers space for films with live music. The improviser and sound artist Wolfgang Mitterer has composed music for the expressionist silent film "Phantom" (1922) by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau. The Franui band, known among others for its artistic versatility, will accompany Paul Czinner's film "Fräulein Else" (1929), based on the novella of the same name by Arthur Schnitzler.
