"After a year and a half of pandemic, the need to hold face-to-face meetings in the property sector is very high," said Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest. "Digital information events have become established and will be held in future as well. Real business requires trust and that only comes from personal meetings That's why we and our exhibitors want to be present on site again." The dynamic development in housing and commerce continues unabated in Hamburg, said Dr Dorothe Stapelfeldt, Senator for Urban Development, adding: "Hamburg is one of the most attractive markets for investors and project developers and is in exactly the right place at Europe's largest trade fair for property and investment."
Over 50 Hamburg-based property firms will take part in Munich’s Expo Real trade fair from October 11-13, 2021 with emphasis on property ideas, drafting plans, investment and financing, building and marketing. Three proptechs are among the Hanseatic firms presenting their businesses at a joint stand hosted by the Hamburg Invest business development agency.
Elbe city highly attractive for investors and project developers
Focus on locations and industries
The City of Hamburg is emphasizing science and research landscape as well as its diverse future locations at the fair, according to Hamburg Invest. The district of Harburg, for instance, with Hamburg's Technical University is already considered a seat of innovation and a magnet for technology companies. Meanwhile, a forward-looking project is being developed in Bahrenfeld's Science City and the Altona Innovation Park, which combine science, research and teaching with business. HafenCity has also already set new standards with its sustainable urban development projects, and which will be further expanded in future and linked even closer with digitalisation.
Hamburg is also focusing on sustainable commercial spaces. New-generation commercial courtyards are likely to become increasingly important role to Hamburg's urban development due to their space-saving, stacked construction in densely populated districts. At present, several new craftsmen's yards are being planned or are already being built as part of collaborations between the property sector and the City of Hamburg.
Proptechs as drivers of innovation
Proptechs or property technology offer optimum processes and are among the main stakeholders in the industry. Hamburg Invest's Startup-Unit is offering the three proptechs, Moovin Immobilien, Ownr and Stacey Real Estate, the chance to present their firms at Expo Real and to expand their networks.
Moovin Immobilien digitises the lease of large numbers of apartments and new construction projects and helps property companies to set up digital processes. OWNR rethinks housing and hopes to bring more people into their own homes through leasing. The company buys and renovates apartments and then leases them out. After a year and a half to four years of trial living, tenants can decide whether to move out, continue renting or to purchase the property. Stacey Real Estate specialises in shared living, i.e. temporary communal living. On offer are furnished private rooms for professionals in shared suites with utilities, internet, weekly cleaning and community events.
Expo Real - varied agenda
Various companies and institutions in Hamburg's property sector will also will be represented at the joint stand organised by the Hamburg Invest Service GmbH (HIS). Expo Real will provide all kinds of information on property and investment issues during the fair. The entire schedule as well as the corona-regualations can be found on the website.
