Hamburg Climate Fund provides EUR 30,000 for projects by non-profit institutions, associations and initiative

Applications for grants from the #moinzukunft climate fund can be submitted to the Hamburg Climate Protection Foundation until the deadline of February 25, 2022. A total EUR 300,000 in funding is available for climate projects by non-profit institutions, associations and initiatives, the Ministry for the Environment has announced.

Climate protection as a community project

Jens Kerstan, Senator for the Environment, commented: "Everyone's daily decisions and ideas should go towards sustainable alternatives and commitment to more climate protection. There is really no shortage of creative potential and commitment in our city." Launched in 2019, the Climate Fund uses funds from the Ministry of the Environment to support civil society commitment to climate protection and has funded around 70 climate protection so far. An expert jury will decide on the allocation of funds in 2022.

Grants of up to EUR 20,000

Non-profit institutions based in Hamburg, such as foundations, school or sports clubs, daycare centres or cultural, educational, youth welfare and social organizations can apply for the #moinzukunft grants. A maximum EUR 20,000 per annum and project is available. Grants of up to EUR 5,000 can be approved in a simplified and accelerated procedure.

Among the projects funded is the "Climate Protection Rally in the Swap Climate Fleet". Participants take part in challenges and events on climate protection. The "Team Green", which stops off at sports clubs and offers mobile bicycle workshops, is also being promoted at present. The City of Hamburg backs all kinds of climate protection projects such as the Futur 2 Festival or the climate-friendly Hamburg Guide and provides information about climate protection in everyday life on www.moinzukunft.hamburg under the keyword #moinzukunft.
