"We have made another EUR 1.5 million available in addition to existing support programs for the club scene. Hopefully, this will bring a good piece of sorely missed culture back to life," said Dr. Carsten Brosda, Hamburg's Senator for Culture and Media. Timotheus Wiesman, Managing Director of the Interessengemeinschaft Hamburger Musikwirtschaft e. V., added: "The corona crisis has had an enormous immense impact on the music city of Hamburg with its many small, medium-sized companies that are among Europe's leading music organisers. Even if concerts taking place until the end of October represent only a fraction of the previous diversity of musical life in our city, every concert helps revive cultural and social life and offers Hamburg's music companies, their employees and artists new perspectives."
The Ministry of Culture and Media is providing immediate funding for outdoor concerts organized by clubs in a corona-compliant setting before the end of October. The ministry had earlier worked on a solution with those in Hamburg's music scene. Those interested can submit an application through the Clubstiftung or foundation. The Knust on St. Pauli, Schrödingers in Schanzenpark or the Cruise in in Steinwerder are just some of the venues to which live music has returned. Hopes are now high that more open-air concerts can go ahead across Hamburg.

Applying for funds
Applicants can request funds for outdoor music events to be held before October 31, 2020. The funding is aimed at maintaining and strengthening the scene's infrastructure and to ensure that those involved in the sector can return to work. A maximum of EUR 15,000 per concert is available and EUR 75,000 maximum per applicant.
