Where does Europe stand in terms of AI in future?

The recently-ended  Media Dialogue 2025 in Hamburg's City Hall focused on regulating media platforms, defending common European values and strengthening democracy from the shift to the right. Launched on Tuesday (May 13) and followed by a conference on Wednesday, occasioned  cross-industry talks.

"Take courage, Europe!"

Writer and journalist Navid Kermani spoke of Europe's independent future and called for more bravery. Peter Tschentscher, Mayor of Hamburg, also called for less reliance on big U.S. platforms and more freedom for European innovation. "That would be an effective response to the libertarian zeitgeist that is causing Europe problems and jeopardising our future," said Tschentscher at the launch of the event on Monday.

Conference on AI

During the conference, delegates  including leading figures from the media and digital industry discussed the risks and opportunities of AI and shared views with the mayor and Dr Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media on possible joint goals and strategies.
