Ideas for grandchild-friendly farming

28 March 2024
Sustainable agriculture and food industry in biosphere regions

Grandchild-friendly agriculture will take centre stage on April 16, 2024 when the focus turns to biosphere reserve regions during an event in Boizenburg. The analyses of value chains of regional, sustainable products should form a basis for sustainable development in the Elbe-Schaalsee biosphere region in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region.

Optimising value chains

The results of a project entitled “Biosphere. Regional – Sustainable“ will also be presented during the event. The project sought to determine means of improving value chains for regional, sustainable, food and agriculture products. Following expert interviews, the results were analysed in workshops with production, processing and marketing companies. First means of increasing value creation were developed for biosphere regions.

Long-term sustainability in rural regions

Experts, stakeholders, local authorities and people across the region can learn more about the project in April. Click here to register for the free event. The idea is to improve the standard of living in the Elbe-Schaalsee biosphere without compromising its diversity and natural landscapes. Given the ongoing structural change, more ideas are needed to make rural areas more sustainable in the long term.
