Hamburg's Scoopcamp 2021 to shed light on future of journalism

30 March 2021
Innovation conference for media goes two-day in September - Pulitzer Prize winner Alan Rusbridger expected

This year’s expanded Scoopcamp 2021, underway from September 15-16, is set to bring together journalists, content pioneers and innovators from all over the world in Hamburg. The media industry event, hosted by nextMedia.Hamburg and Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa), will be held on two days for the first time. Delegates can attend the 13th Scoopcamp via a free livestream and on-site at the designxport in HafenCity.

Impact of digitalisation on journalism

Events on September 16 include presentations, panel discussions, networking sessions and paid masterclasses by industry professionals focusing on trends and challenges posed by digitalisation for journalism. Alan Rusbridger, former Editor-in-Chief of Britain's The Guardian newspaper and Pulitzer Prize winner is among the keynote speakers.

Special day focusing on young people

The previous day's events are dedicated to journalism for and by teenagers and young adults. Many people in this age group have lost lost confidence in news media and have difficulty distinguishing facts from opinion, evaluating news and rating sources, according to Scoopcamp's organizers. The symposium has been facilitated by a new partnership between Scoopcamp and the journalists' association, Netzwerk Recherche e. V., and the dpa project #UseTheNews targeting young up-and-coming journalists, influencers and education professionals. More information about the agenda and tickets for Scoopcamp 2021 will be announced shortly. Digital passes for both days are available on the website.
