"The Art Newspaper" ranks Kunsthalle among 150 most popular museums

The US art magazine, The Art Newspaper, has ranked the Hamburger Kunsthalle 133rd among the 150 most popular art museums worldwide, a press release said Friday (May 9, 2025). Around 600,000 visitors in 2024 make it the most popular German art museum.

Caspar David Friedrich exhibition hugely popular 

Around 335,000 people visited the Hamburger Kunsthalle to see the anniversary exhibition on Caspar David Friedrich with exhibits such as the "Wanderer above the Sea of Fog", among others. The Louvre Art Museum in Paris topped the ranking with over 8 million visitors, followed by the Vatican Museums with just under 7 million. "The Art Newspaper" is a world-famous art magazine which publishes an annual ranking of the most popular art museums worldwide.
