"The expanded concept of the Hamburg Beer Week is a great addition to events," said Michael Otremba, Managing Director of Hamburg Tourismus GmbH. The festival will open with a boat trip or so-called Brewers Cruise. A special feature of this year's Beer Week is the "#HHBW21 Collaboration Sud" which will see beer brewed by 17 breweries in Hamburg served across all venues during the festival. The beer will go on sale in stores from early August.
The Hamburg Beer Week gets underway from August 25-29, 2021 when around 100 events will make the city’s brewing culture tangible. The festival will be held in over 30 venues including breweries, pubs and bars. The beer week is part of Hamburg Tourismus GmbH's "Weil wir Hamburg sind" ("That's why Hamburg") relaunch campaign to stir up enthusiasm for Hamburg in the wake of the pandemic.
Special beer creation
Hamburg‘s beer scene
Launched last summer by Jens Hinrichs (Bunthaus Brauerei), Udo Spallek (Emilienbier), Brian Schlede (BrewCraft), Daniel Hertrich and Axel Ohm (ÜberQuell Brauerei), the decentralised festival celebrates the bright and vibrant beer culture that has sprung up in Hamburg over the last ten years. Apart from large breweries like Astra and Holsten, many other beer projects and companies, some of which are experimental, have also set up shop in Hamburg.
