"The recognition of the Good Governance Award shows that digitisation works best when jointly developed solutions create real added value for citizens," said Jan Pörksen, State Councillor and Head of the Hamburg State Chancellery. The project impressed the jury with its user-friendly and barrier-free design of digital services. The technology-independent, open-source design system, designed as a tool kit for digital administrative solutions, will be made available to all 16 German states, local government and IT service providers. It will be continuously developed by a nationwide interdisciplinary community of experts along the lines of "public money - public code".
The "KERN" project run by Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein has won the Good Governance Award 2024, a press release said Friday (November 8, 2024). The aim is to develop a flexible modular system for digital administrative processes and an open UX (user experience) standard.
