Apply now for trainee scheme for behind-camera careers - deadline on June 2

Applications are now being accepted for the "Get On Set" trainee scheme for behind-camera careers in the film and series industry. Run by the Hamburg Media School, Moin Filmförderung and the City of Hamburg, the scheme targets career changers aged 25 and over. The deadline for applications ends on June 2, 2025. Successful applicants will begin the ten-month course in October 2025.

"Get On Set" qualifies for recording management, sound or camera

"Many people dream of a job in the film industry, but don't know how to get started. 'Get On Set' offers precisely this opportunity - a structured, practical scheme that promotes talent regardless of their previous career and prepares them for everyday working life," said Stefanie Bilen, Head of Further Education at Hamburg Media School. This year, twelve career changers can qualify for careers in e.g., production management, sound or camera. Participants gain practical experience in Hamburg-based production companies, film technology distributors or post-production studios. They can also attend seminars at the Hamburg Media School to learn the basics of screenwriting, film law and costing.

Boosting Hamburg as a film and media centre

Since 2022, "Get On Set" has offered residents of Hamburg an opportunity chance to reorient themselves in the changing working world. "They can get to know new careers and gain a permanent foothold in one of the attractive professions in the film industry," said Melanie Schlotzhauer,  Senator for Social Welfare. "'Get On Set' is a long-term solution that encourages young people to apply for a variety of professions behind the camera and prepares them for working on set," said Helge Albers, Managing Director of Moin Filmförderung.
