Gamecity Hamburg presents independent studios at Gamescom

Hamburg-based event agency designs virtual "Indie Arena Booth"

The first entirely digital Gamescom opened its doors Thursday (August 27 to 30, 2020) in Cologne. The leading trade fair for computer and video games features a new Indie Arena Booth for independent game developers from all corners of the globe. The show-stopping booth is the brainchild of the Hamburg-based Super Crowd Entertainment event agency and emerged after five months of work, backed by the local Gamecity Hamburg initiative. Nine Hanseatic games studios are also presenting their latest games at virtual stands this year.

Platform for global games sector made in Hamburg

The interactive world at the stand features a free online game. More than 190 game studios from over 50 countries, including nine game studios in Hamburg are presented on 100,000 virtual square metres. Using a specially developed editor, the studios and teams designed their stands creatively and easily. The exhibitors also had an opportunity to insert multiple content including chats with developers, videos and game demos.

"Many people wonder what major events look like now and in future. The Indie Arena Booth Online's answer to this question is more interactive, accessible and imaginative than anything we have ever seen in this field before," said Dennis Schoubye, Project Manager of Gamecity Hamburg. Two workshops were held for studio in the run-up to the fair. Gamecity Hamburg is hosting the following studios as part of the Gamecity Hamburg Road to Gamescom programme at the stand: Tiny Roar (Bomb Bots Arena), The Tribe (Pit Rush), Osmotic Studios (Orwell - Keeping an Eye on You), VR Nerds (Tower Tag), One Man on Mars (Leif's Adventure), Tool 1 game (The Invitation), Mooneye Studios (Lost Ember), Rockfish Games (Everspace 2), Bagpack Games (Out of Place).
