Green energy with kites and high-altitude winds - interview with Mark Hoppe, Vice President of Skysails Power
"Airborne wind power has the potential to become the cheapest source of energy in the future," says Mark Hoppe, Vice President Public Affairs & Business Development at Skysails Power. The Hamburg-based cleantech company relies on large kites that generate electricity from high-altitude winds. One airborne wind turbine can produce enough electricity for around 400 households or 480 megawatt hours per year. In our latest Future Hamburg Talk, Hoppe explains how this works, the advantages of high-altitude wind and possible future milestones.
