Augmented reality in the maritime industry - Moritz Rath, co-founder of Apprisify, explains how and where windows become AR display screens

Our latest Future Hamburg Talk with Moritz Rath, co-founder and CTO of Apprisify, reveals how navigation data, weather updates and information are displayed in the windows of a ship's bridge. This is made possible by Apprisify, a branch of the Hamburg-based Fehrmann Tech Group. Its intelligent windows are transparent augmented reality (AR) screens that combine digital information with the real world. The captain can still see the surroundings as well as the instruments and information. “We are not simply aiming to launch a new product on the market, but to set new standards for maritime safety and navigation,” he pointed out. The Apprisify team is now  striving to refine this approach and to revolutionise the maritime industry in the long term. Rath explains the technology behind it and outlines out further possible fields of application.
