The recipients are the Hebebühne, the Uwe, the Kent Club, the Uebel & Gefährlich, the Moondoo and the Fabrique. "The 'Future Fonds' allows us to take another step towards sustainably-run cultural institutions in Hamburg," said Dr Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media. Thore Debor, a representative of Clubkombinat Hamburg, remarked: "The funds enable clubs to deal intensely with climate protection and to implement effective measures." The new sustainability managers are to develop concrete measures based on an initial assessment and draft a concept for more sustainable operations. The Clubkombinat has set up a sustainability co-ordination office to help implement the scheme.
The Clubkombinat Hamburg and the Ministry of Culture and Media have earmarked EUR 140,000 in funds to make clubs climate-friendlier, a press release said Thursday (May 4, 2023). To this end, six clubs can now appoint so-called sustainability managers and avail of EUR 700 per month from the "Future Fonds Hamburg" scheme until 2024.

Focusing on sustainability
The fund is based on the nationwide Code of Conduct called "Celebrating the Future". The voluntary commitment was developed by the Clubtopia initiative, backed by the Initiative Musik and the Federal Commissioner for Culture and the Media. Participating clubs commit to a comprehensive sustainability concept for effective and socially-acceptable climate protection measures. The music clubs backed by the "Future Fond Hamburg" are signatories to the Code of Conduct. "The clubs are meeting their visitors' expectations as the issue of sustainability is becoming increasingly important to them," Brosda remarked.
